So boycotting EA is the only right thing to do ^^ Quoting: MercifulBoss Quoting: TermyThe only way to get rid of such bullshit is to vote with your wallet. Not all games need a save backup, but it's best not to rely on Steam Cloud (and some games don't have it). This is the easiest fix I've found so far, that doesn't require the use of Protontricks or swapping Proton versions that could cause other issues (like a broken Proton Prefix) or anything else. ![]() PCGamingWiki might list where the save files are. In the games Properties - Developer - Delete Proton Filesįor save backups, each game is different, it's best to look it up using your favourite search engine first. You can find the Windows folders for games in the “compatdata” folder, and then the ID of the Steam game.įor example: /.steam/root/steamapps/compatdata/*game_id*/ I cannot stress this enough, find where the save files are and copy them somewhere safe. I'll still try to fiddle with it to see if I can make the overlay work. I do care about ME but I already finished it. Luckily, I don't play that game so I can't say I care too much. When I had Windows 7, I had the UAC set to a low level so I don't know if the same would have happened with that OS.Īlso, with PvZ, the game launches fine with Steam Overlay and everything but the game screen now falls behind the Steam Big Picture screen so I have to alt+tab to it. That is also annoying because the UAC system now requests my confirmation when I want to launch the game. It has the little window badge on the game icon that indicates it runs with admin privileges even though the properties window doesn't show the "run as administrator" box checked. Mine is set up to run as administrator but by the installation itself. I can confirm that since I upgraded to Window 10, I can no longer use the Steam Overlay with Mass Effect. I had completely forgotten about this conversation. Mass Effect will start, but I don't stay in-game on Steam and the overlay doesn't work. I had it working prior to upgrading to Windows 10. What does your compatibility for ME1 look like? Mine is set to run as Admin and Windows XP service pack 3 (these were default settings). Originally posted by The Bipolar Rock'n'Roller:Yes I am. To make things clear, the game works through steam, the problem is it opens behind big picture mode and I've got to manually tab over to it. Something about garden warfare is off though and launches behind the big picture window. Yeah man, I've done all that (Why titanfall works without issue). If you try this with other Origin games and it works, please report here to benefit others. Under “Advanced”, check “Automatically exit Origin after closing game” Under “Origin In Game”, uncheck “Enable Origin In Game” to disable Origin overlay (optional) Under “General”, unckeck “Automatically launch Origin when I log on to Win” In the Origin client, go to “Application Settings” and do the following: Add a custom banner in grid view if desiredĥ. Under the game’s properties window, the “Target” field doesn’t have to be changed, ex: Add game’s executable to Steam as a non-Steam game (normal process)Ģ. ![]() I have not tried it with any other Origin games.Īdding Origin games to steam with overlay (originally posted in now-defunct forums):ġ. This method works well with Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare. It seems others have gotten several other games to work, so scan the rest of these posts to see if you game is supported. Since I posted these instructions, I've added Mass Effect to my Steam library and it works great. ![]()
